  • Schools of public health have been leaders in the science of prevention of NCD.
  • The science led by schools has shown that up to 80% of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes and 40% of cancers are preventable.
  • Prevention has been demonstrated in population-wide approaches in multiple countries.
  • The changing causes of chronic diseases and rising prevalence require new scientific leadership and solutions.
  • All sectors will benefit from their investment in the 21st century NCD prevention science and education that is needed from schools of public health.
  • Areas for scientific investment are proposed.
