Electricity in Public Passengers’ Transportation and the Impact on Consumption in the National Energy System
Abstract
Electric drive systems in mobility solutions are increasingly being used by the manufacturers in the global automotive industry. The European strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050 is also transposed into Romania’s Energy Strategy. An important part of this strategy is the use of electricity in public passenger transport to significantly reduce pollution in urban areas. The rapid pace in terms of the renewal of conventional urban transport with modern electrified solutions requires, at the same time, an analysis of the pressure that this new consumer can exert on the national energy system.
